![]() ![]() Cabins have beautiful views of Fallen Leaf Lake and/or the surrounding mountains. As we worked these shifts together, wearing crazy costumes, yelling, and giggling, we as a staff formed an unbreakable community that has been an amazing support system back here at Stanford. The Stanford Sierra Camp offers lodging for attendees in rustic cabins. Though these shifts required hard work completing less than desirable jobs, the one-of-a kind staff culture at camp made every single shift because of the creativity, passion, and support each team member brought to the shift. With many activities spread out across this rugged mountain environment, it can be challenging for those using manual wheelchairs or those with difficulty walking to navigate the terrain. ![]() At camp, we worked 47 hour weeks – about 20 of those hours were with the kids, while another 20 or so were in the dining hall or housekeeping. Situated at an elevation of 6,377 feet, Camp encompasses twenty acres of pristine forest on the shores of Fallen Leaf Lake in the Lake Tahoe basin. Much more than simply being a summer job though, working at Sierra camp was an incredible learning experience that allowed me to both form lasting friendships and grow substantially as a person. Stanford Sierra Camp is located on the southern shore of beautiful Fallen Leaf Lake, about a four-hour drive from Stanford. Located on the beautiful Fallen Leaf Lake in South Lake Tahoe, Sierra camp is a camp for Stanford alumni and their families staffed by 60 Stanford students every summer. After dinner, there will be dancing and general merry-making.This summer, I worked as an 11 and 12 years olds counselor at Stanford Sierra Camp. Then we'll move into the Dining Room for dinner. We'll start with passed hors d'oeuvres on the Old Lodge deck. RECEPTION 5:15 PM - 12:00 AM DRESS CODE: COCKTAIL The facilities were simple and rustic, allowing Camp to keep prices incredibly low. In 1960, a week for an adult guest cost 55.00, and in 1962 the weekly fee was raised to 65.00. We're getting married! The ceremony will take place at Baby Beach. After operating under this arrangement for six years, the Stanford Alumni Association purchased the Fallen Leaf Lodge in 1959, and Stanford Sierra Camp was born. Starting your day with a lake jump is a time-honored camp tradition and we'd love for you to join us. They'll give you a room key, welcome basket, and a smile! The next few hours are yours to explore camp. Stop by the front office when you arrive. Sierra Camp will consolidate shuttles, in order to minimize trips between Lakeside Inn and Camp. Participants lodging at Stanford Sierra Conference Center must be on the meal plan. The Sierra Camp van from Lakeside Inn and Casino to Camp will run as often as needed. Camping (off site) options includes facility fees, with or without meals. Book the Reno airport to South Lake Tahoe shuttle here. You should get off the shuttle at Lakeside Inn and Casino, where a Sierra Camp van will pick you up. The South Tahoe Express from Reno to the California-Nevada border costs about 30 dollars per person and reservations are required. If you take the shuttles, you will have to change from the South Tahoe Express to a Sierra Camp van at the California-Nevada border in South Lake Tahoe, which is roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes into the 2 hour trip. Fill your days hiking in beautiful terrain, paddling through clear waters, or relaxing on the deck with a good book. From the airport to Sierra Camp will take about 2 hours and can be done by shuttle service or by renting a car. Spend your holiday weekend unplugging and unwinding in the fresh mountain air at Fallen Leaf Lake. We recommend that you fly into Reno airport (RNO) and aim to arrive between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
